The Europa lander is a concept for potential future planetary exploration mission which purpose to characterize the icy shell of and search organics. To achieve this objective, current includes Raman spectrometer, such as RLS instrument, that could be able analyze (sub) surface targets in their solid liquid form. Knowing ice brines are potentially enriched by sulfate chlorides, work seeks evaluate if spectroscopy used semi quantify saline content water solutions using space-like instrumentation. do so, MgSO4 MgCl2 were prepare three sets solutions. analyses then performed laboratory simulator ExoMars Laser Spectrometer (RLS), has been defined threshold system Lander. After data analysis, two different semi-quantification approaches tested, results compared. Although univariate calibration curves proved successfully SO42− Cl− anions dissolved mono-analyte solutions, strategy provided very poor when applied binary mixtures. Overcoming issue, non-linearity prediction ability Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) combination with bandfitting allows resolve complexity vibrational perturbation suffered OH region, caused cross interaction H2O molecules anions.
